This
transducer is used for measurement of the
mechanical position of an external device
or equipment. The mechanical position of
the external device (Transformer Tap Change
Gear) is converted to a resistance value
with a potentiometer or a resistor network
by a rotary switch arrangement. The output
( which is a load independent current or
voltage) is proportional to the ratio of
the resistance value at a position (tap)
to the maximum resistance value in the network
[i.e. resistance value at the maximum position
(tap)]. The output can be connected directly
to indicating instruments, data transmission
system, Computer systems or SCADA systems.
